Our AA and NHPI communities and their contributions are critical to the success of our work at NIH. These efforts align with the White House’s recent National Strategy to Advance Equity, Justice, and Opportunity for AA and NHPI Communities. NIH will implement these practices to understand and examine any leadership gaps and how best to promote inclusion at NIH. One example is a collaboration between the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and the Federation of AA and NHPI Network (FAN) which partnered to develop recommendations for inclusive workforce analysis practices. Our identities are informed by our complex experiences with racism, sexism, ageism, classism, and we are committed to promoting best practices at NIH. This listening session was not a siloed effort, but instead represents another piece in a larger puzzle to center ourselves better culturally as we support and lift our colleagues. Participants shared their perspectives on workplace exclusion, underrepresentation in leadership, and how the effects of structural racism can create barriers to career advancement. To better understand the perspective of our AA and NHPI colleagues, NIH senior leaders held an NIH-wide listening session (must be connected to VPN) last summer to hear from the AA and NHPI community regarding issues affecting them in the workplace. As AA and NHPI communities have demonstrated, despite the increase in anti-Asian hate and violence since the COVID-19 pandemic, resilience and a stronger sense of identity and voice have been hallmarks of these communities. This critical priority affects all of our communities and plays out in how our AA and NHPI colleagues navigate their own identities. If our communities do not feel safe, our work towards cultivating a culture of belonging remains hampered. A White House fact sheet and the National Institute of Mental Health’s website provide disaster relief and mental health resources. It is a priority of NIH to provide culturally appropriate resources to all those affected by this trauma. Unfortunately, AA and NHPI individuals continue to be the target of and suffer from the impact of mass violence, such as the January 2023 shootings in Monterey Park and Half Moon Bay, California. Recognizing the individual value of our AA and NHPI colleagues complements the national theme, “ Visible Together.” The lived experiences of AA and NHPIs in the United States are shaped by many factors, including immigration status, family origin, and how other communities view and engage with AA and NHPIs in their daily interactions. NIH’s theme for this year, "Reclaiming My Identity," is inspired by the uniqueness and diversity that encompasses AA and NHPI communities. Join me for this year’s AA and NHPI Heritage Month as we continue this journey together.Įach May, the Nation celebrates Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) Heritage Month. There is much to celebrate, and even more to learn from each other. I am committed to working together with those who are interested in furthering the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. We embrace the rich diversity embodied by our vibrant AA and NHPI community. Our audience was the President’s Advisory Commission on AA and NHPI within the White House Initiative on AA and NHPI. In February 2023, we had the unique occasion to assemble a small team of NIH subject matter experts to speak on matters relevant to health equity. Since the beginning of 2021, the White House has pledged to take actionable steps to address the needs of AA and NHPIs by developing and promoting policies focused on equity, opportunity, and justice for our communities. As we grow our legacy and roots as part of NIH’s overall mission, we are empowered to tell our stories, and redefine our future. This month, AA and NHPIs, at NIH and beyond, share their knowledge of how they live out success in their own definition. While we celebrate the invaluable dedication from this segment of the workforce, we are cognizant that our commitment in addressing the barriers and challenges that AA and NHPIs experience is both on-going and real. I am honored to present the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion’s 2023 Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander (AA and NHPI) Heritage Month Campaign – “Reclaiming My Identity.” This month, we focus on uplifting our colleagues from the AA and NHPI community by highlighting their contributions and experiences as part of the NIH workforce.

So easy to figure out from these other forms right over here. Y-intercept pretty clearly from standard form and the x-intercept. So the thing that standardįorm is really good for is figuring out, not just the y-intercept, y-intercept is pretty good if you're using slope-intercept form, but we can find out the So let's say I have the linear equation, it's in standard form, 9X plus 16Y is equal to 72. And what I want to do in this video, like we've done in the ones on point-slope and slope-intercept is get an appreciation for what is standard form good at and what is standard form less good at? So let's give a tangible example here. And standard form takes the shape of AX plus BY is equal to C, where A, B, and C are integers. To get into in this video is another form. This is point-slope formĪnd we do videos on that. And if you know that X equals, X equals A, Y equals B, satisfies that equation, then in point-slope form youĬan express the equation as Y minus B is equal to M times X minus A. Solutions of that equation has a slope M. If you know that some, if you know that there'sĪn equation where the line that represents the You can algebraically manipulateįrom one to the other. And these are just different ways of writing the same equations. We've also seen that you can also express things in point-slope form. Represents the XY pairs that satisfy this equation, it would intersect the y-axis at the point X equals zero, Y is equal to B. And then from B you're able to figure out the y-intercept. This MX term right over here and M would represent the slope. Of Y is equal to MX plus B, where M and B are constants. Slope-intercept form, where it would be of the form Just enter you own examples above and they will be calculated immediately step-by-step.Looked at several ways of writing linear equations. To find the equation of the function, you have to insert a point and get an equation which gives the y-axis intercept. To calculate the slope m, use the formulaĪs we can see, the slope was calculated first. This means: You calculate the difference of the y-coordinates and divide it by the difference of the x-coordinates. How to calculate the equation of a linear function from two given points?įirst, we have to calculate the slope m by inserting the x- and y- coordinates of the points into the formula. Therefore, the equation of the function is General form of the linear function: f(x)=mx+b Here is an example: Lets assume we know that our function has slope and goes through (-2|5).Ĭalculate the y-axis intercept b by inserting: the one coordinate for x and the other one for f(x). You have to insert the point into the equation, i.e. How to calculate the equation of the line from a point and the slope? If you take a look on the function graphs, you see that intersects the y-axis at intersects the y-axis at. As the name says, it says where the function cuts the y-axis. The y-line intercept is the number at the end of the function. What is the y-line intercept of a linear function? This means whenever we go one square to the right, we have to go three squares down to be on the graph again. If we go one square to the right of any point on the graph, we have to go two squares up to be on the graph again.Īnother example, this time with negative slope: It says how may units you have to go up / down if you go one unit to the right. The slope of a linear function corresponds to the number in front of the x. The graph of a linear function is always a line.Ī similar word to linear function is linear correlation. Here is an example:ĭein Browser unterstützt den HTML-Canvas-Tag nicht. The general form of a linear function is, where m is the slope and b is the y-axis intercept. A linear function is a function whose graph is a line. Cheaper, more efficient, and probably neck and neck with the best Intel has to offer. AMD is claiming 82+ motherboards at launch and 91 system builders at launch with ~200 expected in Q1. Better yet AMD is significantly cheaper than their Intel counterparts, 50%+ at the high-end, and are available for pre-orders as of right now. We are confident AMD is in the right ballpark but time will tell. In Sonoma AMD showed off some games and Ryzen was really close to Intel’s 6900K while using less energy. In the end Cinebench is not representative of much for most potential buyers. For “Recorded Idle Wall Power”, the AMD 8C systems had an ~50% power advantage over Intel’s 8C systems while the 7700K 4C had a 25%, 10W, power advantage over AMD’s 8C 1700. On that last one AMD had a sizable 46% advantage on Cinebench but it was a case of 8C vs Intel’s 4C, price differences not withstanding. AMD Ryzen 7 1800X (AMD Ryzen 7) at Newegg for 145.87. More interesting is that the TDPs for Ryzen are significantly lower than Intel’s, 95W vs 140W and 65W vs 91W for the 1700X vs the Intel 7700K. Ryzens ability to split its 16-lane PCIe 3.0 link into two x8 slots looks a lot more like Intels mainstream chipset line-up in comparison. Today there are three Ryzen 7 CPUs available, the 1800X, 1700X, and 1700, all 8C16T devices, and all are significantly cheaper than their Intel counterparts. In case we read that wrong, they should be. You could infer that they are suddenly really worried about something. The CPU supports DDR4-2666 and is installed in the motherboard on Socket AM4. The base clock frequency of the model is 3.60 GHz, total of cores is 8. We offer to study all the data and compare it with a competing model. This last bit may explain why Intel PR sent out a last-minute “call us before you write” email to most of the press, but not SemiAccurate, after hours last night. Here are all the AMD Ryzen 7 1800X’s specifications and performance estimation in benchmark. Can you say trouncing?Ĭinebench may be seen as a non-representative benchmark for some but SemiAccurate is confident that Ryzen’s performance will hold up across a wide range of benchmarks. Better yet the cost of Ryzen 7 1800X, $499 v Intel’s i7 6900K’s $1050, is less than half of the competition. More interesting is the single threaded test where it tied the 6900K exactly which lends credence to AMD’s IPC claims. Only one benchmark, Cinebench, was disclosed today where it beat Intel’s best 8-core CPU by 9% in multi-threaded tests. Today AMD delivered that part and it lived up to expectations. During the Sonoma even there were enough hints that a pre-production stepping Ryzen with some key features not working yet, notably turbo, would put up a pretty solid fight against the 6900K It was obvious that a final stepping device with newer firmware would give the best Intel 8C CPU a run for the money.Ĭinebench shows beating per dollar clearly SemiAccurate was expecting a CPU that ran neck and neck with Intel’s best, the ‘big’ socket Broadwell-E CPUs. Better yet the highest end Ryzen 7 1800X beats Intel’s Core i7 6900K by a bit at less than half the price. For a long time AMD has been promising a 40% IPC improvement with Ryzen, today they delivered 52%. MW at peak with a first of its kind 500kW containerized battery solution.
